What it is
BioStim microbial products are a simple, cost effective way using bioremediation to reduce and eliminate the buildup of fats, oils, and grease (FOG) for the maintenance of drains, indoor and outdoor grease traps, lift stations, sewer lines and septic systems.
BioStim’s environmentally safe products keep our drains and sewers flowing while reducing the many other problems associated with FOG buildup. BioStim products contain no harsh chemicals and are free of enzymes and emulsifiers.
These highly concentrated, multi-strain microbial formulas are effective in food & beverage service establishments, hospitality, municipal, marine, residential and industrial environments. Combined regular application of pills, plugs, dry bulk formulas, or foams greatly reduce FOG.
We also offer the MicroDrip timed-release metering system, engineered to deliver the exact concentration needed around the clock, enhancing preventative maintenance programs and making future cleaning easier and more effective.
How it Works
Grease & organic buildup can create issues in drain lines and other pretreatment equipment, including foul odors, slow drain lines, blockages and backups, sanitation issues that contribute to insect control problems, or sanitary sewer overflows. Since the waste load in drains and grease traps often exceeds what microbes naturally occurring in the waste environment can handle, treatment with BioStim products is a highly effective bioremediation solution.
We use a proven proprietary blend of natural microorganisms native to the drain environment. This highly concentrated boost of bacteria overwhelms the system, which then begins replicating and producing their own enzymes to break down the FOG. Since it works without harsh chemicals, there is no heat produced, and thus no cooling and resolidification further down the sewer line. The result is elimination of FOG and breakdown of other organic matter into harmless carbon dioxide and water.
Bioremediation is the use of naturally occurring microbes to digest and convert waste into harmless substances. BioStim formulations include specific strains of bacteria found naturally in the environment that consume grease and organic matter at higher rates than other types of bacteria.
Douglas ProTech’s on-staff microbiologist in our onsite lab manages the entire process from bacteria cultivation and growth to final product packaging. This labor-intensive process takes almost two weeks, and all microbial products are continually monitored throughout their shelf life for optimal viability.

Benefits of BioStim Solutions
Regular use of BioStim products can reduce or eliminate grease buildup and its consequences, including foul odor, corrosion, costly cleaning and unclogging procedures, or sanitary sewer overflows.
Other products boast of similar control of FOG, though there are important scientific differences in their chemistry and mode of action. Many products on the market today contain high concentrations of enzymes that liquefy grease, which simply moves grease further down the drain system to resolidify, creating clogs and continued organic matter buildup. BioStim products contain hundreds of millions of anaerobic and aerobic bacterial colonies per gm or ml that essentially consume the grease and organic buildup in drains and sewer lines.
For septic systems, BioStim treatment prevents grease from passing through to the septic leach field where it can re-solidify and cause a septic field failure.

DESCRIPTION: Foaming microbial cleaner with a specially designed powerful surfactant.
POINT OF APPLICATION: For drains in floors, bar sinks, beer taps, ice machines, soda holsters, soda fountains, ice cream dipper wells, troughs & other types of drains, dumpsters, and for cracks and crevices underneath counters and equipment where FOG builds up. Not intended for use on food preparation or service counters. Safe for use on metals, stainless steel, PVC and drain lines.
PACKAGING: Concentrated solution in cases of 6×1 quarts to be applied with a hand sprayer, power foamer or hose-end foamer. Dilute 4 oz product per gallon of water.
Vent Hood Magic
DESCRIPTION: All-purpose, NON-microbial foaming degreaser formula designed to coat commercial exhaust hoods and flues using an automatic mist/spray system or manual spraying system to remove fats, oils, grease and other organic buildup. Made from natural plant-derived materials and 100% biodegradable; free of VOCs, phosphates, free enzymes or caustic/corrosive chemicals.
POINT OF APPLICATION: For vent hoods, countertops, and hard surfaces.

How are BioStim Products different from other products on the market?
Many treatments contain chemicals such as enzymes, corrosive/caustics, and FOG emulsifiers which can liquefy/solubilize grease so that it can “pass-through” to another location where it can re-solidify and cause additional problems. BioStim products eliminate harmful grease at the source.
Once I begin using BioStim products, can I pour fats, oils, and grease down the sink?
Fats, oils, and grease should not be poured straight down the sink at any time. BioStim products are designed to catch the fats, oils, and grease that cannot be totally removed from the dishes prior to washing.
How do BioStim microbial products work?
BioStim products infuse drain lines with microbes that digest fats, oils, and grease and convert them into carbon dioxide and water. This process reduces the amount of organic buildup in the pipeline to allow free flow of wastewater.
Are BioStim products safe for plumbing and septic systems?
Yes, BioStim products are free of harsh chemicals such as corrosive/caustics that can damage plumbing or septic systems. Septic Saver is specially formulated for septic system use, containing high concentrations of the same microbes that naturally exist in septic systems.
Will BioStim microbial products provide complete protection against plumbing clogs?
BioStim microbial products will only treat the line where it is administered. Plumbing clogs can still occur in other areas. BioStim microbial products are designed to reduce organic buildup including fats, oils, and grease. Plumbing problems may occur from other sources, and BioStim microbial products do not affect those other sources.
Are there any special safety precautions for BioStim products?
All of the bacteria in BioStim formulas have been independently tested to ensure they are susceptible to a wide spectrum of antibiotics, although no infections caused by these bacteria have been reported in more than 30 years of use. However, the following safety measures are always advisable:
Use products in a manner consistent with application instructions and labeling.
Do not ingest or inhale the product.
Wear latex gloves for hygiene; avoid contact with open wounds.
Wash your hands with soap and water after handling the product; do not rub your eyes, nose, or mouth if your hands have been in contact with the product.
It is recommended that people with autoimmune deficiencies avoid direct contact with the product.
Keep out of reach of children.
How does Septic Saver work?
Septic Saver increases the amount of naturally occurring, waste-eating microbes in the septic tank. As part of the digestion process, these microbes convert the waste into carbon dioxide and water. This process promotes free flow in the entire septic system and keeps the septic tank functioning properly.
How is Septic Saver different from other products available?
Many other septic treatments on the market contain chemicals such as enzymes, corrosives/caustics, and FOG emulsifiers which can liquefy/solubilize the grease and body oils, allowing them to re-solidify and cause additional problems later. Some products also contain fillers that may ultimately do more harm than good to the septic system. Septic Saver’s microbial formula digests and eliminates harmful grease at the source.
