Keep Your Facilities Running Smoothly

Douglas ProTech provides a range of custom thermal fluid products to keep facilities running with reliable freeze, burst, and corrosion protection in formulations specific to a system’s needs. Our glycol-based thermal fluid formulations are Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) and do not contain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), or “forever chemicals”.

Douglas ProTech thermal fluid products offer increased flowability, lubrication and effective burst protection in extreme high and low temperature applications, including HVAC, closed water loop refrigeration, chillers & boilers, food & beverage processing, solar heating, energy production and distribution, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, geothermal, railroad, and other systems and industries.

Effective Heat Transfer

Effective heat transfer fluids, providing effective flowability, heat capacity and conductivity.

Wide Temperature Range

Can be used in a wide range of temperatures, making them suitable for multiple industrial systems applications.

Corrosion Protection

Provides additional protection against corrosion of steel, copper and aluminum during long term use in closed systems with our inhibitor solution.

Leak Detection

Can identify system leaks quickly with leak detection dye available in red, blue or UV – an add-on option at no additional cost.

Food Grade

HTF Pro is NSF Certified (National Sanitation Foundation) for HT1 ‘incidental food contact’ and HT2 ‘nonfood contact’ food applications, making it approved for use where incidental food contact may occur with the process water.

Improved Safety

Non-flammable, non-toxic, and readily biodegradable, a safer option for various applications.

Reduced Environmental Impact

Our glycol-based thermal fluid formulations are Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) and do not contain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), or “forever chemicals”.

HTF Pro Heat Transfer Fluid by Douglas ProTech

HTF Pro by Douglas ProTech is a heat transfer fluid containing inhibited propylene glycol. This non-toxic formulation has an inhibitor solution to provide additional protection against corrosion of steel, copper and aluminum during long term use in closed systems, delivering dependable protection and performance.

HTF Pro contains 100% propylene glycol and should be diluted with deionized water, with the dilution rate to be determined by the customer’s specific application requirements. A leak detection dye option (in red, blue or UV) can be optionally added to HTF Pro at no additional cost.

HTF Pro is NSF Certified (National Sanitation Foundation) for HT1 ‘incidental food contact’ and HT2 ‘nonfood contact’ food applications.

FAQs - Commercial Thermal Fluids

Why do we add an inhibitor to our glycol formulations?

We often come across companies using uninhibited glycol, and wonder why their system is failing. Many users are unaware that there’s the choice of inhibited or uninhibited for their glycol.
We include inhibitors in our formulations since they prevent corrosion, prevent chemical reactions between dissimilar metals, act as a buffer against formation of acids, and prevent drawing metals like zinc out in a system. Inhibitors leave a micro-thin coating over the system, and a certain amount continues to stay in solution. Corrosion is a particular concern in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that use brass fittings.
We offer both inhibited and uninhibited glycol and there’s a place for both, though most systems are better off with inhibited glycol.

What's the benefit of adding a leak detection dye to glycol?

Our formulations help our customers identify leaks in their system with an optional leak detection dye that can be added to the product at no additional cost. Red, blue, and UV dyes are available, as well as custom color options upon request.

Is Douglas ProTech's propylene glycol food grade?

Our HTF Pro is NSF Certified (National Sanitation Foundation) for HT1 ‘incidental food contact’ and HT2 ‘nonfood contact’ food applications, making it approved for use where incidental food contact may occur with the process water.

Do Douglas ProTech thermal fluids contain PFAS?

Our glycol-based thermal fluid formulations are Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) and do NOT contain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), or “forever chemicals” – persistent pollutants that can accumulate in the environment and human bodies, raising concerns about potential health and environmental risks. Douglas ProTech’s thermal fluid formulations are non-toxic, non-flammable, and readily biodegradable, and thus a safer option that can be used in many applications.
