What does “burst protection” mean?
Burst protection is defined as the lowest temperature at which the solution will protect a pipe or container from bursting. For example with a burst protection of -50°F, the solution will protect the pipe or container from bursting in an environment of up to -50°F. Note that the solution may not necessarily
remain in liquid state at that temperature – the product is effective in providing burst protection even when it is slushy.
How is winterizer different from car antifreeze?
Winterizer is a non-toxic product specifically designed for RV and boat plumbing systems. It’s different from car antifreeze, which is an ethylene glycol-based coolant designed for engine cooling, and is toxic. Douglas ProTech’s Winterizers contain propylene glycol (Five Star contains alcohol in addition to propylene glycol), are safe for freshwater systems and don’t leave a bad taste after de-winterizing.
